that there was a plan for mitt romney to go to nevada and that has been knocked off the agenda. in part because it is a longer flight out there and we are going to colorado so it would not be thatcy but it is a sign that mitt romney sees the polls shifting to obama in nevada and not mitt romney. pennsylvania, he is going, and wisconsin we are there, where the polls have narrowed and wisconsin because of paul ryan's addition to the ticket. that is a state they did not expect to have a shot. pennsylvania is a key player if you believe their calendar and spending and decision to go there. it would potentially help out if it went wrong in ohio, the romney campaign still says they are confident they can pull it off in ohio but recognize that president obama got steam there the last couple of days, so, pennsylvania could be part of a replacement strategy combined, perhaps, with ohio and colorado. ohio is always central to the victory central joy and he is doing a lot of scrambling and it could be a contingency plan but when the polls get this close with a lot of money lying around, spend it. >>shepar

to get groceries this morning. thousands of grocery store workers across northern california and nevada are now on strike. as you can see from live picture, they are ready to walk that picket line. this is the knob hill in alameda. the announcement came after a midnight talks deadline passed overnight. before that the existing contract was extended hour by hour. management and union leaders have been in contract negotiations for more than a year. they also operate bel air markets and knob hill foods and the main sticking points are health care benefits, a proposed wage freeze and the elimination of premium pay for sunday shifts. the union contract expired at midnight. workers as you can see were ready to walk off the job. >> i talked to my family. we're ready. we're ready. we're going to fight for solidarity together. >> management says the company needs to cut costs in the face of the weak economy and competition from nonunion stores like walmart. they released a statement this morning say iing we expect owl u are a employees who are scheduled to work to show up for work on sunday. >>>

the unemployment rates, nevada, 11.8%. colorado still 8%. wisconsin, ohio, new hampshire, virginia, florida, iowa. look at iowa, 5.2%. it's essentially full employment in iowa but they are concerned about debt, deficit and the quality of jobs you are getting. let's start with the ohio jobless rates. no gop candidate won an election without winning ohio. ohio makes presidents. today, 7% is the unemployment rate, less than when the president took office. that is better than the national average. they have been adding manufacturing jobs. not as many by any stretch of the imagination that they lost. look at florida and the trend of the jobless rate in florida. it's exactly where it was when the president took office. still higher than the national average. it has been coming down. housing is still a major issue here. in virginia, 13 electoral votes, jobless rate is low now. a 5.9% in virginia. but, it's still higher than when the president took office. essentially flat in virginia. it's going to be interesting because superstorm sandy could have an effect. power outages there. we don't know what tues

battleground states pretty much in the bag. they think nevada, wisconsin, iowa, and new hampshire are all pretty much in the president's column. they feel like ohio is almost certain to go for them. and that, obviously, would give them more than 270 electoral votes there. they think they are a little ahead in virginia. i feel pretty confident about virginia, they think colorado and florida are -- they think colorado and florida are pure toss-ups right now. they could win those, they might lose them and as i said, north carolina's the only one of the nine battleground states where they are pessimistic, but the rest they feel good about. and when you think about that altogether, that's why they feel really self-assured they're going to win the electoral college tonight if not the popular vote. >> can you imagine? to finish out the two tiny villages in new hampshire, 23 votes for president obama, nine for romney, and tonight, the polls begin closing in eastern in kentucky at 6:00 eastern time. our first big clue on how the election might unfold will come at 7:00 when the polls close in anoth

in nevada and new hampshire have him up there as well. check this out! 332 electoral votes to 188 according -- i think i just knocked that out. to 191. that's from today. the only swing state that shows he is down -- actually tied today but down over all is in north carolina. and then there's pennsylvania. the romney camp made a $120,000 ad buy yesterday and three super pacs supporting romney have poured $6 million into pennsylvania just this week. why, you might ask? well, it's all part of their plan to quote, expand the electoral map. the president is up by four points in pennsylvania and they are still pouring all of that money into it. the poll out today was a franklin and marshall poll. and david axelrod placed an interesting range isser on whether the participate would take minnesota, michigan or pennsylvania. >> i will shave off my mustache if we lose any of those states. >> jennifer: that put david axelrod on the side of the american mustache lobby. and the american mustache institute put out a statement saying, quote . . . >> jennifer: all kidding as
